Maruti is expected to launch the Maruti Vitara Brezza, it's first compact SUV, in the March-April period, Indian Autos Blog comes to know. The car maker is planning promotional and media activities around the product sometime next month, a company spokesperson told Indian Autos Blog at the Auto Expo 2016.
When launched the Maruti Vitara Brezza will rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300, however, like the S-Cross, Maruti plans on launching only the diesel variant of the Vitara Brezza at least initially.
The engine in question is the 1.3-liter four-cylinder DDiS unit capable of 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and will drive the front wheels of the compact SUV.
At the tape, the Vitara Brezza measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,640 mm in height and 2,500 mm in wheelbase. It comes with a boot space of 328 liters and ground clearance of 198 mm when fitted with 215/60-R16 wheels.
