Market launch reported to take place in March.
Maruti has now teased the front fascia of the Maruti Vitara Brezza on its website and social networking channels. The company's first sub-4 meter SUV will have its premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 (which starts for the media on February 3, 2016), and a subsequent launch is reported to take place in March 2016.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza has been developed and designed completely by Maruti's engineers in India, without any involvement of parent company Suzuki. According to Mr. CV Raman, executive director, R&D for Maruti-Suzuki and lead engineer of the Vitara Brezza, development work started in mid-2011.
The name Vitara Brezza comes in part from Suzuki's global SUV, the Vitara, while 'Brezza' is Italian for 'fresh breeze'. In the Indian market, the Vitara Brezza will slot below the Maruti S-Cross crossover, and above the Maruti Swift hatchback. It will rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 when launched. Sales of the Vitara Brezza will take place through Maruti's regular dealerships instead of the premium NEXA outlets.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza will be powered by the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine when launched. Both engines will sport a front-wheel drive arrangement with a 5-speed manual gearbox, though a CVT could be offered with the petrol.
