Milestone reached within just 16 months of sales.
Maruti Suzuki has announced that the company has reached a new milestone of selling more than 1,00,000 units of its SHVS (Suzuki Smart Hybrid Vehicles) models in India.
Maruti Suzuki introduced SHVS technology in India with the Maruti Ciaz on 1 September 2015 and a month later started offering the Maruti Ertiga with it. It uses an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a battery to supplement the combustion engine's power. The ISG recovers energy from the car's deceleration, and this energy is stored in a battery which assists the engine's idle-stop start function and helps the engine during acceleration.
The SHVS technology is offered in the Maruti Ciaz diesel and Maruti Ertiga diesel which is powered by the D13A 1.25-litre DDiS engine that produces 66 kW (88.47 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. The BS IV-compliant engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel economy rating of the Ertiga diesel SHVS and Ciaz diesel SHVS is 24.52 km/l and 28.09 km/l respectively.
