The global launch of the Celerio was conducted at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this month. Post the launch, Maruti is receiving over 1,000 bookings per day for the Celerio, says R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki.
The Maruti Celerio is the first car in India to feature an automated manual transmission (AMT). While promising a lower buying cost (compared to conventional automatics), the AMT also achieves the same fuel economy as the manual variants of the Celerio at 23.1 km/l.
Post the interim budget announcement, Maruti has slashed prices across its range including the Celerio's. Earlier priced at INR 3.9 lakhs, the Maruti Celerio LXi now costs INR 3.76 lakhs. The AMT is available in the base LXi and VXi trims only. These were earlier priced at INR 4.29 lakhs and INR 4.59 lakhs respectively, and post the announcement are priced at INR 4.14 lakhs and INR 4.43 lakhs respectively.
All prices mentioned here are ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
The Celerio is powered by a three-cylinder, 1.0-liter K-Series engine which produces 68 PS at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The hatchback is available in four trim levels and seven body colors. The top-end ZXi Option includes features such as dual front airbags, ABS, alloy wheels, 2-DIN stereo system and steering integrated music controls.
