Will output 100 hp from a 1.0L 3-cyl turbo engine.
ET Auto reports that the Maruti Baleno RS will launch in India in March 2017, according to a source close to the company. It was earlier rumoured to go on sale this month, but now it seems that a launch next month is more likely to happen.
Technical specs of the Baleno RS had leaked online more than a week ago. The Baleno RS will be powered by a new 1.0L Boosterjet (turbo) petrol engine producing 100 hp (75kW) at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque between 1,700 rpm – 4,500 rpm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is confirmed to be standard, while rumours of a 6-speed automatic in the offing are still circulating.
According to the leaked spec sheet, the Baleno RS has a kerb weight of 950 kg (with fluids, spare wheel and tools), so expect power-to-weight ratio to be in hot-hatch standards. The 1.0L Boosterjet is also claimed to be more fuel efficient than the regular Baleno 1.2 petrol.

As for the exterior and interior, Maruti showcased a near-production concept of the Baleno RS at the Auto Expo 2016. The Baleno RS distinguishes itself with features like a mesh-pattern grille, sportier front bumper with a wider radiator intake and silver underlining, side skirts, black-painted alloy wheels, roof spoiler and a new rear bumper. It will also be equipped with rear-disc brakes for better stopping power.
