Launch reported to take place on October 26.
Maruti's NEXA range of dealerships have started accepting bookings for the Maruti Baleno for a sum of INR 25,000. The Baleno is reported to launch on October 26, with dealership personnel confirming a month-end launch.
Sales advisors Indian Autos Blog spoke to confirmed that the Baleno will come with a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine in the 75 PS/190 Nm tune. The petrol will get an option of a CVT gearbox on the 'Delta' variant, two sales advisors told Indian Autos Blog.
According to an earlier report, the Baleno will launch in four variants, with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags a standard offering on all variants. However, features like projector headlights, reverse camera and Maruti's touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment-cum-navigation system will be offered only on the top-end 'Alpha' variant.
The Baleno for India is reported to measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height, 1,745 mm in width and 2,520 mm in wheelbase. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm, and comes equipped with 16-inch wheels. A total of seven colors will be offered on the premium hatchback.
When launched, the Baleno will rival the Hyundai Elite i20 (segment leader), the VW Polo and the recently introduced Honda Jazz.
