Our friends at OnCars.in have sources in Maruti Suzuki who have confirmed to them that an update for the Maruti Alto K10 is on the cards. The Alto K10 was launched around the same time in 2010 to improve the Alto brand's sales which topped 20,000 units every month. The K10 helped improve sales largely and since its introduction, special editions and new marketing initiatives have launched.
The update coming to the K10 this Diwali would be a more major operation. The upholstery is likely to change and the audio system would receive an update. The beige interior from the Alto 800 could be used on the facelift.
The K10 is a variant of the usual Alto that runs on the 1-liter K-Series engine that produces 68PS @ 6,200rpm and a maximum torque of 90Nm @ 3,500 rpm. Paired to a newly developed cable-type transmission, its fuel efficiency is rated at 20.2 km per litre. The engine upgrade gave the Alto a very decent 0-100 kmph sprint time of 13.3 seconds.
Power steering, remote boot-lid opener, a turning radius of 4.6m and a ground clearance of 160mm are other features that helped build up a case for itself.
Also worth noting is the K10's export base which spreads the Alto brand's footprint across Asia, Africa and South America.
