Mahindra XUV300 AMT pre-bookings open, to be launched soon - Report

The Mahindra XUV300 AMT was spotted a number of times recently, and now, its pre-bookings have begun, albeit not officially. The launch will take place later this month.

Currently, a 6-speed manual gearbox is standard in the Mahindra XUV300.

The Mahindra XUV300 AMT is expected to cost around INR 50,000 more than the Mahindra XUV300 MT that is priced from INR 7.90-11.49 lakh* (petrol)/INR 8.49-11.99 lakh* (diesel). It will be available in only the diesel engine model, and that too in only the higher W6 and W8 grades. The automated manual transmission of the sub-compact SUV is a Magneti Marelli-sourced 6-speed unit. The petrol engine could be offered with a 6-speed torque converter starting next year. Previous reports have said that AMT is a stop-gap solution until this fully automatic transmission is ready.

On the outside, the AMT version of the SUV is differentiated only with an 'autoSHIFT' badge. The Mahindra XUV300 features projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lights and dual-tone roof rails on the outside. Inside, it comes equipped with comfort and convenience features such as electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the safety front, it boasts, four disc brakes, front parking sensors and ESP with Roll-over Mitigation among others.

The Mahindra XUV300's engine options include a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel unit. The former delivers 81 kW (110 PS) at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm, and comes mated to a 6-speed manual as standard. The oil-burner delivers 85.5 kW (115 PS) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm, and works in conjunction with the same 6-speed manual gearbox as the petrol unit.
