Based on the Mahindra XUV500 reportedly.
Based on the teaser image of the Mahindra XUV Aero concept, Indian Autos Blog's Shoeb Kalania has created a digital mockup of the coupe-SUV, which will make its premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 next week.
As can be seen, the Mahindra XUV Aero inherits some styling from the Mahindra XUV500, on which it is reportedly based. The design of the hood and front end have a characteristic feel of the XUV500, while the sloping roofline and high shoulder line remind one of a German coupe-SUV (BMW X4, Mercedes GLE Coupe).
The XUV Aero, if realized into a production model, could inherit its powertrain and technologies from the XUV500. The engine in question would be the new 1.99-liter four-cylinder mHawk diesel unit paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The new engine, according to Mahindra, produces similar levels of power and torque as the 2.2-liter unit, but the downsized nature allows the company to circumvent the ban on diesel engines with capacity greater than 2,000 cc in NCR.
