ABS and dual front airbags are an option even on the base variant.
Mahindra officials announced today that the TUV300 will be exported to South Africa and its neighboring markets in the following few weeks. The sub-4 meter SUV was launched today with prices ranging from INR 6.9 lakhs to INR 9.12 lakhs, ex-showroom, Pune.
The TUV300 is powered by a mHawk 1.5-liter three-cylinder 2-stage turbocharged diesel engine capable of 84 bhp and 230 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, or a 5-speed automated manual transmission, in which case power output is 81 bhp. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency stands at 18.49 km/l.
ABS and dual front airbags are available as an option even on the base variant, while they're standard on the top-end variant. Other features on the TUV300 include a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth, USB, AUX-in and Mahindra's Blue Sense app, steering mounted audio and phone controls, front and rear power windows and alloy wheels.
At the moment, the TUV300 remains a 2WD (rear-wheel driven) model though the platform is capable of hosting a 4WD architecture. Speaking of the platform, the TUV300 rides on a ladder-frame hydroformed chassis borrowed from the new Scorpio. The Scorpio and the TUV300 also share wheelbase dimensions.
Reports state that Mahindra is working on a long-wheelbase version of the TUV300 with seating for 7 occupants in a 3-row format. A launch is expected in the coming months.
