Mahindra officials announced today that the TUV300 will be exported to South Africa and its neighboring markets in the following few weeks. The sub-4 meter SUV was launched today with prices ranging from INR 6.9 lakhs to INR 9.12 lakhs, ex-showroom, Pune.
The TUV300 is powered by a mHawk 1.5-liter three-cylinder 2-stage turbocharged diesel engine capable of 84 bhp and 230 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, or a 5-speed automated manual transmission, in which case power output is 81 bhp. The ARAI-rated fuel efficiency stands at 18.49 km/l.
ABS and dual front airbags are available as an option even on the base variant, while they're standard on the top-end variant. Other features on the TUV300 include a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth, USB, AUX-in and Mahindra's Blue Sense app, steering mounted audio and phone controls, front and rear power windows and alloy wheels.
At the moment, the TUV300 remains a 2WD (rear-wheel driven) model though the platform is capable of hosting a 4WD architecture. Speaking of the platform, the TUV300 rides on a ladder-frame hydroformed chassis borrowed from the new Scorpio. The Scorpio and the TUV300 also share wheelbase dimensions.

Reports state that Mahindra is working on a long-wheelbase version of the TUV300 with seating for 7 occupants in a 3-row format. A launch is expected in the coming months.
