Market launch in the first half of this year.
The Mahindra P601 (codename) was revealed during the inauguration of Mahindra's new extended automotive manufacturing facility at Zaheerabad, Telangana. The company said in a statement that the P601 will be launched in the first half of 2015, and will roll out from this plant where Mahindra has invested INR 250 crore.
Mahindra did not disclose further details of the P601, let alone its name. However, reports state that the LCV will rival the hugely popular Tata Ace, and will have load carrying capacity between 600-800 kg.
Underpinning the P601 would be an all-new platform, one of three new platforms Mahindra plans to launch this year. And while details remain sketchy, the P601 is expected to be powered by the Maxximo's 909 cc two-cylinder diesel engine.
Circular headlight clusters are joined by a rectangular grille with the Mahindra logo taking center stage. A black bumper with enclosed foglight cutouts and a honeycomb airdam further lend the LCV a fresh look.

The cabin is expected to get a dashboard-mounted gearlever to free up space in the center console, while features like a mobile-phone charging socket and provision to install a music system are sure to be present on the LCV.
