Mahindra today announced that it will launch India's first electric cargo and passenger van, the Mahindra e Supro on October 6, 2016. The e Supro made its debut at the Auto Expo this year, and was showcased at the biennial event in the passenger-carrying variant.
The Mahindra e Supro at the Auto Expo was announced to be powered by a 73.2V AC induction motor that made 30 kW (40.2 hp) at 3,000 rpm and produced a peak torque of 90 Nm till 3,000 rpm. The 8-seater featured disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

On the outside, the Mahindra e Supro at the show looked identical to the regular Supro, save for a chrome band on the grille, five-spoke alloy wheels and blue body graphics. Though the e Supro is yet to launch, the FAME-India scheme's website (a government-run website) lists the e Supro Cargo van with an incentive amount of INR 1.87 lakhs.
