Lexus has teased an image of the production version of the Lexus NX, which will debut at the Beijing Motor Show on April 20th.
The Lexus NX is a compact crossover that is based on the Lexus LF-NX concept which was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year.
Lexus has already applied to trademark the NX 200t and NX 300h names, hinting at a possible turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2.5-liter hybrid engine like in the ES 300h.
The NX is based on Lexus' L-finesse design language in which the front is characterized by Lexus’s spindle grille, signature headlamps, independent Daytime Running Lights, and unique corner styling. On the sides, puffed up rear wheel arches get black protective finish and a steeply raked tailgate gave the concept a coupe-like finish.
Previously leaked production Lexus NX's image shows that these design cues have been watered down. For instance, the grille is tamer and the concept car's LED lights are replaced with traditional projector lamps. The corner styling of the production car is styled far less aggressively than the concept.
While some media reports say that the Lexus NX will go head to head with the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA, some believe that it will go a rung higher and compete with the Range Rover Evoque, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK Class.
