Could be unveiled at EICMA 2015.
Based on previous spy shots, Germany’s Motorrad magazine has rendered the upcoming KTM Duke 800 medium displacement sports bike. The sports bike is likely to be unveiled at this year's EICMA Motorcycle exhibition that begins on November 19.
The mule has been spotted testing several times and KTM CEO Stefan Pierer had said last year that an upmarket sports bike, based on the 500 cc and 800 cc platform, could be manufactured in India by 2017, to beat the high import duties.
The rendering shows the minimalist bodywork that is the hallmark of the company’s design. The bike retains the edgy and aggressive character featuring a small triangular headlamp that is seen in spy pictures. The frame of the bike is not clear but the typical trellis frame is expected to underpin this bike too. Suspension is taken care of by WP inverted telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking force will be provided by twin discs at the front while a single disc is seen at the rear.
The details of the engine are not known at present but it will be the smallest twin-cylinder engine in the lineup. The 800 cc unit is expected to have a power output of over 100 bhp.
If produced at Bajaj’s Chakan facility and introduced in India, the KTM Duke 800 will create a new segment and will have the first-mover advantage. We expect it to cost around INR 5-6 lakh.
