The Kia Seltos made its official debut on the 20th of this month, but its engine specifications and dimensions were not revealed at the event. Now, they have been unofficially revealed in a report published on Autocar India.
The Kia Seltos surely looks very appealing on the outside, and the fact that it is wider and longer than its arch-rival, the Hyundai Creta, only makes the package more interesting. Coming straight down to the figures, the Kia Seltos measures 4,315 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. Compared to the Creta, the Seltos is longer and wider, but not taller, since the Creta stands at 1,665 mm (with roof rails). Both offer the same ground clearance of 190 mm.
In terms of wheelbase, the Hyundai Creta (2,590 mm) falls shorter as the Seltos measures 2,610 mm. The boot capacity, too, is larger at 433 litres (Creta - 405 litres). There will be two wheel sizes available: 16-inch wheels shod with 205/65-section tyres and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60-section tyres. Internationally, 18-inch alloy wheels will also be on offer.
Apart from the dimensions, Kia also hid the engine specifications of the Seltos at the global reveal. The only information known was that it will get two petrol engines along with a diesel unit, all BS6 compliant.
The Kia Selto's entry-level engine option will be the 1.5-litre Smartstream naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque. The other petrol unit will be the 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged unit making 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The diesel option will be the 1.5-litre CRDi turbocharged unit making 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. These engines will be coupled to a manual transmission, CVT, 6-speed AT or 7-speed DCT. An AWD system won't be available.
On the inside, the Kia Seltos will be brimmed to the neck with some very exquisite features for its class. It will feature the biggest-in-segment 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, 360-degree surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery and much more.
Kia will also offer UVO Connect connectivity suite with the Seltos and it will be free to use for all owners for the first three years of purchase. This smart app will enable features like AI-based voice command, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilisation, safety alerts, remote engine start and stop, auto collision notification and more. On the safety front, the Seltos will pack features such as six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors, a blind spot view monitor and more. The interior colour scheme on the Kia Seltos will include two options including all-black and beige-and-black.
