Following the Hyundai Creta, Kia KX3 could be made in Russia - Report

The mechanical twin of the Hyundai Creta could be introduced in late 2017 with a different name.

Although the Kia KX3 was initially confirmed to be exclusive to the Chinese market, Russian website Kolesa reports that the B-Segment crossover could be introduced in the Russia in late 2017. At the moment, Kia has not made a final decision on the introduction of the KX3 in Russia, says the website.

Unveiled in production form at the Auto Shanghai 2015, the Kia KX3 will launch with a different name in Russia adds the report. Along with the Hyundai Creta, the Kia KX3 will be manufactured at the Hyundai-Kia plant in St Petersburg, Russia.

The engine lineup is rumored to include a 1.6L and 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engines producing 125 hp and 160 hp respectively. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while a six-speed automatic could be seen on top-end grades, along with an AWD system.

As for the Hyundai Creta, it will make its Russian debut at the Moscow Motor Show in late August. The Russia-spec model will be manufactured at the company's St Petersburg plant, as mentioned above. It will be offered with a 125 hp 1.6L or 160 hp 2.0L petrol engine, and latter engine option is available with an AWD option. Prices are expected to range between 825,000 rubles and 1,335,000 rubles (INR 8.29 Lakhs - INR 13.42 Lakhs) when it goes on sale later in the year.
