The BMW Concept X2 is essentially the concept version of the forthcoming BMW X2 that will be positioned above the BMW X1 as its coupe-styled alternative. With the production model said to remain close to the concept in looks, the X2 will have a considerably different exterior from the conventional X1.

Finished in Luminous Red, the BMW Concept X2 sports a heavily raked windscreen, new design kidney grille, laser headlights with a blue 'X' in the hexagon tubes, sleek glasshouse, 21-inch double spoke, bi-colour light-alloy wheels and LED tail lights with "L"-shaped graphics. The interior is yet to be revealed.

The BMW X2 (codename: BMW F49) will be underpinned by the UKL platform that supports the 2 Series and the Mini family. 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with outputs possibly ranging from 150 hp to 231 hp and transmission choices of a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic are highly likely. An all-wheel drive system will be available in the higher-end models.
