Test mule features minor changes.
Burlapp Car has posted a spyshot of what appears to be the 3-door version of the next generation Jeep Wrangler up close. The changes are similar to the ones we've seen in previous spyshots.
The 3-door test mule features a new black plastic rear bumper, mildly altered roof, longer hood, while the windscreen appears to be slight raked and fixed to lower drag. Otherwise, it retains much of the iconic boxy lines that define the styling. Apart from the 3-door and 5-door Unlimited, the next gen Wrangler will also be available as pick-up truck, which would raise attention in the U.S - one of the word's largest truck markets..
One of the biggest talking points of the next gen Jeep Wrangler is the usage of aluminum. It will continue to be based on a ladder-frame platform, but feature intensive aluminum construction for weight reduction and improved fuel economy. It's unclear how much more expensive will the next gen Wrangler be over the current iteration. FCA has also confirmed hybrid and diesel variants for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler model line.
The engine lineup will include a revised 3.6-liter V6 engine and a new ‘Hurricane’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions, while a 4WD system with diff lock will be standard.
The Wrangler will be launched in USA in the first half of 2017.
