Indian debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
Ford showcased the iconic Ford Mustang at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show last April. The muscle car, which made its debut two years ago at the Detroit Auto Show, is likely to be launched in the Indian market this year following its showcase at the Auto Expo next month.
On the outside, the pony car features a power dome on the bonnet, chrome-outlined hexagonal grille, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with tri-slat LED DRLs, round fog lamps and front splitter. The sides are endowed with five twin-spoke alloys, muscular wheel arches, side skirts and prominent shoulder line. The rear view comes with a sloping roofline, twin tail pipes, diffuser and tri-slat LED tail lights which mimic the design of LED DRLs at the front.
Ford says that the interior is roomier than its predecessor and boasts of better quality materials. The cabin is inspired by an aviation theme, that features large dials which help in conveying the necessary information effectively and easily. The Ford Mustang comes with Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system, heated and cooled seats, leather upholstery, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rain sensing wipers, electronic line lock, push-button start and an optional Shaker Pro audio system with 12 speakers.
Internationally, the Mustang is offered with four engines. These are a 3.7-liter V6 producing 300 hp / 380 Nm, 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline four generating 310 hp / 434 Nm of torque, 5.0-liter V8 churning out 435 hp / 542 Nm (on GT variants) and the performance flagship GT350 which is driven by a 5.2-liter V8 having an output of 526 hp and a peak torque figure of 582 Nm.
All Mustangs come with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox option, save for the GT350, that is available with the standard manual and a TREMEC 6-speed manual unit.
