While the sales slump in the Indian auto industry has affected the yearly growth charts of almost all car manufacturers in the country, this festive season, especially the 'Dhanteras' festival, seemed to have brought some respite. Hyundai Motor India, Kia Motors and MG Motor, delivered more than 15,000 units combined on the occasion of Dhanteras. It may be noted here that this festival is considered highly auspicious for taking delivery of a new vehicle.
Hyundai Motor India said that it delivered 12,500 units on Dhanteras, while its sister brand, Kia Motors handed over 2,184 units of the Seltos, its only offering in India, on this auspicious day. Similarly, MG Motor India delivered 700 units of Hector in the country, where-in 200 units were delivered from a single touch point in Delhi-NCR. Furthermore, India's leading automaker, Maruti Suzuki, has also said that Dhanteras sales have been good but it remained tight-lipped on the sales numbers.
Speaking on the development, Kia Moto Kia Motors India VP and Head - Sales & Marketing Manohar Bhat, said
Handing over 2,184 Seltos to our customers on the occasion of Dhanteras, we are delivering on our promise to offer the Indian customers a seamless Kia ownership experience
Kia Seltos has already crossed 60,000 bookings in the country, as a result, Kia has already started its second shift at Anantapur facility to ramp up the monthly production to over 15,000 units. In similar updates, MG Motor India has received over 38,000 bookings for the Hector and plans to ramp up the production with the commencement of the second shift from November this year.
