Will introduce luxury brand to rival the established German car manufacturers.
Speaking to Economic Times, Young Key Koo, MD & CEO of Hyundai India says that the company hopes to introduce the newly established Genesis luxury brand in a few years in the country.
Hyundai had first showcased the Hyundai Genesis at the Autocar Performance Show in 2014, followed by another unveil at the Auto Expo 2016 last week. With the brand targeting mid-size segments, Genesis' products would rival cars from established German manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
Currently, Genesis has only two products in its lineup: the Genesis G90 and Genesis G80. While the latter is a rebadged Hyundai Genesis, the former is a replacement of the Hyundai Equus limo. Hyundai has confirmed that the Genesis brand will offer more bodystyles such as SUVs and 2-door sports cars, and have 6 models in showrooms by 2020.

It's unclear if the models from Genesis will be locally assembled or take the CBU route for India. Like the models sold outside, Genesis will offer products that are as equally advanced as its German rivals, but with better final pricing.
