The Hyundai Elite i20 based crossover, which has been spotted on tests in the outskirts of Chennai several times, will launch early next year. The news was confirmed to The Hindu Business Line by Young Jin Ahn, Chief Coordinator, Sales & Marketing Division, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL).
The Elite-based cross will target the likes of the VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Avventura which have seen incremental sales for their respective makers. Of course, Hyundai will not simply rest after the crossover's launch, as it plans to bring in the ix25 compact SUV next year too.

The Elite cross is expected to be powered by the same set of engines that are seen on the Elite i20. The petrol engine is a 1.2-liter unit and the diesel is a 1.4-liter motor. For now, there are no automatic transmissions on offer.
