Developed wholly by HMSI's Indian team.
HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) has doubled the production capacity for the Honda Navi at its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, owing to increased demand for the scooter. Last week, HMSI announced that it sold over 10,000 units of the Navi, and that it will be available in 35 cities across India by end of June.
Developed 100 percent by the company's Indian R&D arm, the Honda Navi is priced at INR 39,648 ex-Showroom, New Delhi. Patriot Red, Hopper Green, Shasta White, Sparky Orange & Black are the colors available, though customizations are aplenty.
At the tape, the Honda Navi measures 1,805 mm in length, 748 mm in width, 1,286 mm in wheelbase, and has a ground clearance of 156 mm and a seat height of 765 mm. Tipping the scale at 101 kg, the Navi is powered by the tried-and-tested 110 cc HET single-cylinder engine that produces 7.83 hp at 7,000 rpm and 8.96 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm and sends drive via the V-matic transmission (continuously variable transmission). It has a claimed top-speed of 81 km/h.
Post its unveil at the Auto Expo 2016, Mr. YS Guleria, Senior VP (Sales and Marketing), HMSI, said that the Honda Navi does not have a sales target owing to its positioning (the Navi is creating a new segment in the Indian two-wheeler industry).
