Hero Motocorp is continuing with its stream of launches, the latest one being the Hero Xtreme facelift that was launched yesterday at a price of Rs 67,362 (Ex-showroom, Pune) for the disc+drum brake variant and Rs 70,678 for the disc+disc version.
The 150 cc competitor gets an electronic immobilizer. Without the proper key being present in its vicinity, the bike wouldn't start. A Side Stand switch has also been introduced that cuts off ignition if the stand is not folded, as well as a mobile phone charging socket.
Apart from the technological overhaul, the Xtreme also gets some cosmetic upgrades like a new speedometer, headlamp with new eyebrow lights and LED taillight with light guides. Mechanically, the Honda-sourced engine remains the same. It is a 149.2 cc four-stroke single cylinder engine that makes 15.2 hp @ 8,500 RPM and 12.8 Nm @ 6,500 RPM respectively, mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox.
The bike gets a 240 mm front disc brake and the rear gets a 130 mm drum brake as standard. A 220 mm rear disc brake is offered as an option. At the front, the Xtreme gets a telescopic hydraulic suspension and a 5-step adjustable gas reservoir suspension at the rear that is linked to the rectangular swing arm.
