Over 6,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles are plying the Indian roads.
Harley Davidson India has just completed five years of operations and augmented its local portfolio with three new launches (Breakout, Street Glide Special and CVO Limited) yesterday. The iconic American motorcycle manufacturer has managed to sell over 6,000 units in India so far and is looking poised to expand its reach in the coming months.
Speaking to Indian Autos Blog on the sidelines of yesterday's launch event, Mr. Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley Davidson India, stated that the company will inaugurate two outlets each in Mumbai and Delhi and one each in Bangalore and Surat by December 2014.
Further, the company is exploring new cities for dealerships and will be going ahead with its expansion plans based on customer demand. Mr. Prakash said that cities like Ludhiana and Coimbatore have customers who are requesting sales and services.
Harley Davidson's existing portfolio comprises 13 models with prices ranging from INR 4.3 lakhs to INR 49.23 lakhs (both are ex-showroom prices). The Street 750, the most affordable Harley in India, has emerged to be the best selling motorcycle in the country's 500 cc+ segment. The Fat Boy is the most customized model in India.
