Motoroids reports that TVS Motor Company is developing an entry-level commuter, and as per the media site’s sources, it will be named ‘Prestige’.
The website reports that the upcoming motorcycle may feature the TVS Sport’s engine. In the Sport, the 99.7 cc mill makes 7.4 PS at 7,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 4-speed gearbox. As per TVS’ internal testing, the bike’s efficiency stands at 95 km/l. Expect the commuter to have an upright riding position with a well-cushioned single piece seat. The upcoming motorcycle is speculated to use telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Brakes could be drum units on both ends in order to keep the costs under control.

The price of the TVS Sport starts from 38,513, ex-showroom, Delhi for the kick-start, spoke wheel version. The Prestige will reportedly cost around INR 45,000-50,000, ex-showroom. At that price range, it would rival Bajaj Platina, Hero HF Deluxe, Hero Splendor+, and Honda CD 110 Dream. Like the Sport, the Prestige is also likely to come with five-year warranty right out of the box. In a related development, the Hosur-based manufacturer is also working on two cruisers, based on the recently-unveiled Zeppelin Concept. The company will also be launching the Apache RTR 160 facelift soon.
