The production BMW i8 debuts next week in Frankfurt, but not before teasing the audience through videos.
Built out of carbon fiber and weighing under 1.5 tonnes, the i8 is powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that puts out 231hp and 320Nm of torque. This unit is supported by an electric motor which develops 131hp and 250Nm. When operating in tandem, the hybrid powertrain develops 362hp and 570Nm, capable enough to dispatch the 0-100kph sprint in under 5 seconds and attain a top speed of 250kph.
