The BMW 1 Series will be launching in India on September 3. Prior to that, the German luxury car maker has released this video of what to expect from their small hatchback. Driving the 1 Series' in this video are master blaster Sachin Tendulkar (also the brand ambassador of BMW India) and FIA GT1 driver, Armaan Ebrahim.

The 1 Series is BMW's answer to the Mercedes A Class. Where Mercedes India imports the A Class, BMW India will be locally assembling the 1 Series and hence we expect the pricing to be as competitive. Sources have told us that it would be in the range of INR 22-24 lakhs.
The 1 Series is already available for pre-booking and the first 100 customers get the BMW Service Inclusive Plus (a comprehensive maintenance package) as a complimentary feature. There will be two engines powering the 1 Series in India.
The petrol engine would be a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 136bhp and 220Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission will send the power to the rear wheels. Designated as 116i, it has an ARAI certified 16.28km/l. The diesel engine in question is the 2.0-liter unit which also does duty in the X1 and the 3 Series. For the 1 Series though, it would be detuned to produce 143bhp and 320Nm of torque. The 118d as it would be called would have an ARAI certified 20.58km/l.
