Audi has showcased the Audi SQ5 TDI Plus at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Plus variant is more powerful than the already potent Audi SQ5 model and arrives in German showrooms in October this year at a price of Euros 67,700 (INR 50,96,655).
The latest addition to the S lineup gets the standard black gloss package that paints the side mirrors, door handles, roof-mounted spoiler and the diffuser in gloss black. Further distinction is provided by clasps that join the quad exhaust pipes in pairs, and the 21-inch gloss black wheels in the 5-twin-spoke star design.
The interiors feature Nappa leather upholstery for the seats with diamond stitch pattern and a sliding rear bench can be adjusted to give more legroom or enhance luggage space as necessary.
Power comes from the same engine doing duty on the SQ5 TDI, which is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel V6. This unit produces 27 hp and 50 Nm more due to the increase in fuel injector pressure taking the total output to 340 hp and 700 Nm. The Plus can zip from 0-100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds with the top speed restricted to 250 km/h.
The power is relayed to all wheels through the Quattro system with better handling made possible due to the addition of a sports differential on the rear axle. Audi is also offering a special equipment package called "Audi exclusive selection macaw blue" limited to 100 units, which endows the car with a customised macaw blue exterior paint scheme while the cabin gets sport seats in black Nappa leather with macaw blue contrast stitching.
