Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch eight new vehicles by December 2018. These will include entirely new models, lifecycle makeovers, new derivatives and mid-cycle actions. Here’s a list of these eight future Maruti models.
1. Maruti Celerio X
The Maruti Celerio X will feature a more rugged styling compared to the Maruti Celerio, with body cladding, roof bars and body side moulding among other features. Bookings have already opened, unofficially.
2. Next-gen Maruti Swift
The Heartect platform-based all-new Maruti Swift will debut at the Auto Expo in Feb 2018. Maruti Suzuki should offer it with the K12B 1.2-litre petrol and D13A 1.3-litre diesel engines and features like LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine push start-stop and reverse parking camera.
3. Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol
The Maruti Vitara Brezza, India’s best-selling SUV, is currently available with only a diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki is working on a petrol engine and an automatic transmission for the compact SUV. The company may introduce the petrol model at Auto Expo 2018, just days after the SUV’s second anniversary.
4. Maruti S-Cross petrol
The Maruti S-Cross was originally available 1.3- and 1.6-litre diesel engines in India. With the facelift, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the 1.6-litre engine option. Now, the company is readying a petrol engine for the SUV. The alternative engine option could arrive sometime next year.
5. New Maruti Ciaz (facelift)
The Maruti Ciaz went on sale in India in October 2014. In the second quarter of 2018, it will receive a facelift to tackle new rivals 2017 Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Vios. The visual changes could mimic those of the Chinese-spec version known as the Suzuki Alvio Pro (pictured).
6. Next-gen Maruti Ertiga
The original Maruti Ertiga is almost six years old, and the next-gen Maruti Ertiga is already in the works. Road tests have begun of the Heartect-based MPV, and a launch is reported in August 2018.
7. Next-gen Maruti WagonR
The current Maruti WagonR arrived in India in April 2010. Next year, Maruti Suzuki will launch the third-gen Maruti WagonR. The all-new WagonR may ride on the Heartect platform and have a completely revamped exterior and interior.
8. Maruti WagonR three-row
Following the next-gen Maruti WagonR, Maruti Suzuki will launch a small MPV based on it. This model will offer three-row seating and compete with the likes of the Renault RBC also due next year.
