Benelli has high hopes from the Imperiale 400, and the company targets to record large volumes with the retro-style bike. It has introduced the product in the Royal Enfield dominated territory. The Imperiale 400 competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (INR 1.54 lakh*), the Jawa Forty-Two (INR 1.64 lakh*) and the Jawa Classic (INR 1.73 lakh*).

Bookings for the new Imperiale 400 are open through the company’s website and dealerships. Interested buyers can book the motorcycle for INR 4,000. The retro-style motorcycle is available in three colour options – Red, Silver and Black. The Imperiale 400 is backed by a three-Year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as standard. To further enhance the ownership experience, Benelli is also offering complimentary service for the first two-years and an Annual Maintenance Contract with the vehicle.

The Imperiale 400 is built around a double-cradle frame, and it packs budget-friendly hardware specifications. Thus, the shock absorption tasks are handled by 41 mm conventional telescopic forks at the front and preload-adjustable dual rear springs at the back. Illumination tasks are handled by a halogen headlight, while the ride related information is available on a semi-digital instrument console.

Mechanical specifications include a 373.5 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC motor with electronic fuel injection system. Benelli has introduced the Imperiale 400 with a BS-IV compliant engine while the BS-VI version should arrive in early 2020. The motor comes paired with a five-speed gearbox, and it pumps out 21 PS of peak power at 5,500 rpm and 29 Nm of maximum torque at 4,500 rpm. The Imperiale 400 makes marginally higher power output than the Classic 350 (20.1 PS). However, the Jawa duo (27.4 PS), with their liquid-cooled motor, outrun the Imperiale 400 and the Classic 350 by quite a margin.
