The festive season offer will help Yamaha Motor India to clear its BS-IV stock before the company starts rolling out BS-VI compliant motorcycles from November this year. This might be a great time to purchase the motorcycles as the BS-VI compliant models will carry a 10%-15% higher price tag than the existing vehicles. In a press announcement last month, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said:

The hike in production cost for launching BS-VI variants may impact the pricing of the two wheelers varying between 10%-15% on average depending upon the product features.

To give you a recap, the 2,000 extra, FZ-S Fi gets premium styling in the form of dual-tone colour, chrome bezels and engine cowl. The FZ-S is available in three options - Dark Matte Blue, Matte Black and Grey & Cyan Blue. The relatively cheaper FZ, on the other hand, is available in two colour options – Metric Black & Racing Blue. Common features on both motorcycles include FZ25-inspired LED headlight, a new instrument console and a new single-piece pillion grab rail.

Both motorcycles use the same 149 cc SOHC fuel-injected, 2-valve, single-cylinder Blue Core engine that pumps out 13.2 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of max torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is linked to a five-speed transmission.

Suspension and braking setup, too, is identical on both motorcycles. Shock absorption tasks are handled by conventional telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the back. Anchoring department comprises disc brakes on both wheels, while the safety net includes a single-channel ABS.
