The Royal Enfield Classic won't look drastically different in the next generation. However, there will be substantial mechanical changes. For starters, it will feature fuel injection tech as standard and be BS-VI compliant. The current 499 cc motor already uses fuel injectors, while the 346 cc version features a carburettor system. The MY2020 range will pack O2 sensors and catalytic converter among other hardware upgrades also to comply with the more stringent emission norm guidelines.
The actual performance numbers are not likely to change much. For reference, the current 346 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor makes 20.07 PS at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The 499 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine pumps out 27.57 PS at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Styling cues, as seen in the spy images and videos, will include the familiar spherical headlight at the front along with the chrome mask and twin pilot lamps. The fuel tank will retain its curvy design and the chrome fuel filler cap. The side panels and the fenders, too, will not undergo many design changes.
However, the updated model range will pack a revised instrument console that will pack a digital display. The analogue speedometer will be carried forward on the 2020 Classic series although the rest of the information, including the odometer, will be available on the digital screen. The switchgear, too, will witness major upgrades, and the 2020 Royal Enfield Classic range will use rotary-style dials to control functions like engine-kill, high/low beam control.
The saddle setup will witness some changes, and the 2020 iteration of the Classic range will drop the springs under the rider seat. That said, the motorcycle will retain the split-seat setup.
The braking and suspension department will be identical to the BS-IV model range. Thus, the 2020 Classic series will continue to use telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs to perform the shock absorption duties. The stopping power will come from disc brakes on both wheels and be governed by dual-channel ABS.

Royal Enfield has run into copyright infringement troubles. Unless it manages to get a judgment rendered in its favour, the BS-VI model range may face a delayed launch.
