Regular readers would know that Classic Legends have also announced accessories and merchandise for Jawa motorcycles. Jawa bikes are a direct threat to Royal Enfield in the Indian market. In fact, since the launch of the Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty-Two in November last year, Royal Enfield has reported negative year-on-year sales performance in our market.
The Chennai-based two-wheeler brand has reported negative sales for the eighth consecutive month in June 2019. Exports, on the other hand, have delivered promising numbers and Royal Enfield reported 72% year-on-year growth in international sales in the previous month.

The improved performance in the exports could be accredited to the launch of the Royal Enfield 650 Twins in the international markets. The 650 Twins are currently available in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, USA and the UK. The exports are likely to increase once the company’s first overseas plant commences operations in Thailand.
