A new report from Bikewale says that TVS Motor Company is working on a facelift for its highest selling scooter, the Jupiter. The report suggests that TVS has already finalised the design and it is working on making the scooter BS-VI compliant as well.

The report states that the updated Jupiter would be launched around the festive season next year although we believe that the scooter would arrive at the beginning of 2020, ahead of the BS-VI implementation that is scheduled in April.
Visually, the TVS Jupiter is unlikely to get substantial changes with the facelift. The scooter would continue to feature subtle styling and be marketed as a family vehicle. In terms of styling, we could see minor tweaks to the apron and the body panels for a refreshed look. The premium Grande variant of the scooter would receive chrome garnishing, alloy wheels and front disc brake. Updated features would accompany the new visuals.
The new TVS Jupiter would most likely arrive with a full-LED headlight, a feature already available on the country’s highest selling scooter, the Honda Activa. It should be noted that the TVS Jupiter Grande, which was launched in India in October last year, comes equipped with full-LED headlight and semi-digital instrument console. The updated scooter would also feature a revised instrument console, which would include a digital screen.
Mechanical specifications are not likely to be much different from the current generation model, but the BS-VI compliant Jupiter would most definitely benefit from the fuel-injection system. The addition of fuel injection tech would improve the throttle response and deliver relatively better fuel economy. For reference, the current TVS Jupiter features a 109.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, OHC engine that makes 8 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.

The upgraded hardware would result in a price hike of prices, and so, the new TVS Jupiter may retail in the INR 55,000 to INR 65,000 (ex-showroom) range.
