Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the new Speed Twin at INR 9.46 lakh (ex-showroom India). The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin rivals the likes of Ducati Scrambler 1100, Kawasaki Z900 RS and BMW R nineT.

Speaking about the launch of the new 2019 Speed Twin, Shoeb Farooq, General Manager, Triumph Motorcycles India, said:

The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin has the technology, power and torque of the Thruxton R in a more accessible setup. It employs an updated 1,200 cc parallel-twin cylinder, liquid cooled, SOHC, 8-valve Bonneville engine with a 270-degree crank angle that delivers 97 PS at 6,750 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,950 rpm. The engine comes equipped with new magnesium head cover and a revised clutch assembly. The bike features a ride-by-wire system and offers three riding modes: Sport, Road and Rain. Each mode features dedicated throttle maps and traction control settings.
Triumph Speed Twin comes with full-LED headlamp, tail light and blinkers, Monza-style locking fuel cap and bar-end mirrors, upswept silencers and 7-spoke cast aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 tyres. The new Speed Twin is 10 kg lighter than the Thruxton.
The retro-style twin-pod instrument console features analogue speedometer and tachometer. The digital screens integrated into the twin-pod displays show odometer, riding mode setting, traction control setting, gear position indicator, fuel level, average and current fuel consumption, trip settings, distance to empty, clock, service indicator, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System indicator* and heated grips* indicator.

Globally, the Speed Twin comes in three colour choices. All three paint options would be available in the Indian market. The three colours are:
- Silver Ice and Storm Grey
- Korosi Red and Storm Grey
- Jet Black

Stopping power comes from twin discs with Brembo 4-piston axial callipers at the front and a single disc at the back with a Nissin 2-piston floating calliper. Safety tech includes ABS and switchable traction control system, both as standard. Cartridge forks at the front and twin suspension units with adjustable spring pre-load at the back handle the shock absorption tasks.
