Autocar reports that Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) plans to introduce a low-spec EX variant of the Creta. The 2019 Hyundai Creta EX will replace the E+ version of the small SUV.
Until now, the 2019 Hyundai Creta has been available in 7 grades - E, E+, S, SX, SX Dual Tone, SX (O), and SX (O) Executive option. The replacement of the E+ trim with the EX version will provide buyers of the low-spec model with additional convenience and comfort-enhancing features.
Reportedly, the 2019 Hyundai Creta EX will be equipped with features like front fog lights with daytime running lamps, a rear-seat armrest with a cup holder, adjustable headrests for the rear seats and a reverse-parking camera. While these features will be offered on petrol and diesel versions of the SUV, the company will additionally kit out the oil-burner-equipped variant with a 5.0-inch touchscreen audio system, steering-mounted audio controls, a map light with a sunglasses holder, two tweeters and a front-USB charging socket. That said, unlike the outgoing E+ trim, the EX-spec model will miss out on the front power outlet.
The specifications of the 2019 Hyundai Creta will remain unchanged. So far, it has been available with two diesel engines and a petrol motor. The entry-level oil-burner is a 1.4-litre unit that produces a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 224 Nm. It comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The costlier diesel version displaces 1.6-litre and outputs 128 PS and 265 Nm, while the petrol engine option comes in the form of a 1.6-litre motor that offers 123 PS and 154 Nm. Both the 1.6-litre units are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

It is being said that the company plans to discontinue the S automatic diesel variant, which means the auto 'box-equipped oil-burner-powered Creta would be available exclusively in the high-spec SX trim.
