The Honda CB300R will be the newest modern-retro roadster to be introduced in India after Royal Enfield launched the 650 Twins in the country. Ahead of its launch, the Indian-spec CB300R was spied during a TVC shoot. Here are the top 5 things to know about the CB300R.
Design
The Honda CB300R, according to the company, is a 'neo sports cafe' that incorporates the retro styling with the modern design cues quite impressively. The motorcycle features a full-LED round headlamp, raised handlebar, fully-digital instrument console and LED lighting all around. Suspension duties are performed by 41 mm upside-down front forks and a pro-link mono-shock at the back with 5-step preload adjustability.
Positioning & Launch Date
The Honda CB300R will be imported via the CKD route, which will result in a premium positioning against the competition. The motorcycle will be assembled locally at Honda's factory in Gurgaon, Haryana. The CB300R is set to be launched in India on 8 February 2019.
Features
The motorcycle features first in segment IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) based dual-channel ABS unit, which optimally modulates brake force between both the wheels. Braking hardware includes a 296 mm front petal disc and a 220 mm rear petal rotor, with radially mounted 4-piston Nissin callipers. Unlike the global-spec model, which features Bridgestone tyres, the Indian version will be equipped with Michelin Pilot Street tubeless radial tyres.
Engine & Mileage
The Honda CB300R sources power from a 286cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve, fuel-injected motor that is tuned to churn out 31 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 27.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm and comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. The CB300R has a claimed fuel economy of 30.2 km/l, according to WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle). Considering it has a 10 litre fuel tank, it will have a range of 300 km between stops.
