The Royal Enfield Fury DX 175 is hands down one of the rarest motorcycles in India. The bike recently rode into IAB reader R Deena Dayalan's garage. Deena has an extensive collection of neatly restored and maintained retro motorcycles, and the Fury DX 175 completed his collection of Enfield motorcycles. Other rare gems in his garage include the Royal Enfield Mofa, Explorer, 1973 Vespa with Douglas Kit, a Rajdoot Runabout and a 1987 Yezdi 350 Twin among others.

Unlike some of his other motorcycles, the Royal Enfield Fury DX 175 did not require much restoration efforts. Deena purchased the Fury DX 175 from a collector in Bangalore who had maintained the motorcycle properly. The retro-gem cost the IAB reader INR 1 lakh, and few extra expenses in part replacement.
This isn’t an average retro motorcycle. The Royal Enfield Fury DX 175 received updates that were not common back in the day. The braking department, for example, was one of the firsts to receive a disc. The retro-style disc brake is seen without cooling holes, a feature that is common on modern-day motorcycles. The Fury DX 175 was also one of the first bikes to come equipped with mag-wheels instead of wire-spokes.
A tall windscreen that offered solace against windblasts, while the boxy shape of the headlight and blinkers gave the Fury DX 175 an old worldly charm complemented the semi-fairing design. The boxy shape to the lights has been retained at the back. The stripes run through the length of the motorcycle, starting from the fairing, all the way to the rear panel. The design is aimed to break the monotonous look of the single-tone finish to the motorcycle. Subtle chrome finishes to parts like the front fender and the pillion grab rail add a contrast to the motorcycle.
The 3D Fury badge sits on the fuel tank while the DX 175 sticker occupies the space on the side panel.
Technical specifications include a 163 cc single cylinder, 2-stroke engine that, for the Indian market, was tuned to deliver 15.8 bhp. The engine was rubber mounted to filter out the vibrations. The Fury DX 175 was one of the first bikes to come with a tachometer and a five-speed gearbox.
