While the S&S exhaust system, which comes as part of the optional accessories from Royal Enfield, is still far from sight for the Indian buyers, aftermarket options have started to arrive. Recently, we brought you a video of the very first aftermarket exhaust for the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 that is being developed and tested by Red Rooster Performance. The modern-retro motorcycle shares its engine with the Continental GT 650, and thus the exhaust system that fits the Interceptor INT 650 can be installed on the cafe racer.

Now, another brand has unveiled its own performance exhaust for the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650. Grid7 Customs recently posted a video of its aftermarket exhaust for the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 via its Facebook page. Though Royal Enfield has used a parallel-twin cylinder engine on the 650 Twins, the company uses a single-piece forged counterbalanced crankshaft with a 270-degree firing order that is aimed to provide V-twin-like character to the exhaust note and minimal vibrations. The aftermarket exhaust further enhances that V-twin-like exhaust note and is an absolute treat to the ears.
There is no mention of a performance upgrade with the new exhaust. Grid7 Customs call it a Performance Exhaust and thus we could see a marginal increase in the horsepower with the unit. The 648 cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled engine delivers 47 bhp of power at 7,250 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm in stock tuning.
Aftermarket exhausts come at the risk of attracting the attention of authorities. Thus, it is always a good idea to consult a service advisor before making any modifications to the motorcycles.

In more updates on the 650 Twins, dealers reveal that the demand for the Interceptor INT 650 is more than the slightly more expensive cafe racer. The Interceptor INT 650 costs INR 2.50 lakh onwards while the Continental GT 650 retails at INR 2.65 lakh onwards – both ex-showroom Delhi prices.
