Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt. Ltd has launched the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 155 in India at INR 1,00,212 (ex-showroom, Delhi). For reference, the outgoing Suzuki Gixxer 155 costed INR 88,390 in the standard variant and INR 88,941 in the SP variant (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
Powering the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer is the same 155 cc SOHC, air-cooled mill. However, the engine now receives the fuel-air mixture by a fuel injector and not a carburettor. This will result in not only a crisper throttle response but also reduced tailpipe emissions. With the upcoming BS-VI emission norms, all manufacturers will have to shift to fuel injection in order to reduce emissions. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox the upgraded engine produces 14.1 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque.
The engine now has 6 sensors: Oxygen sensor, Intake air pressure sensor, Intake air temperature sensor, Throttle position sensor, Engine temperature sensor, Crankshaft sensor. All of these combine to help the ECM judge the ratio of the appropriate fuel-air mixture in real-time. Besides that, the Suzuki Gixxer 155 gains a new LED headlamp and a new LCD instrumentation (like the unit seen in the Gixxer SF). Also, the latter retains the shift light seen in the faired variant. The LED tail lamp is shaped like the one seen on its faired cousin.
However, unlike the Gixxer SF, the 2019 Gixxer retains a handlebar and no clip-ons. The naked-sport Gixxer follows the new design lines seen in the Gixxer SF150. The fuel tank gets new extensions. The exhaust muffler has a new chrome tip. The single-seat has made way for split seats which adds to the sporty character of the bike. In fact, the new trapezoidal theme adds a seriously sophisticated aura. Colour options are limited to Black, Grey and Blue.

While the outgoing model offered a rear disc only as an option, the new model offers it as standard. All of this has increased the kerb weight of the bike by 4 kg to 140 kg. Fuel tank capacity and ground clearance are identical at 12-litre and 160 mm respectively. Besides that, the seat height has been reduced by 5 mm to 795 mm. Also, the suspension setup is the same: telescopic (front) and monoshock (rear).
The price hike of INR 11,822 for the Suzuki Gixxer is a nominal amount for fuel injection, new looks and features. The Suzuki Gixxer is competes with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZ-S FI and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
