The 2019 Maruti Ignis has started dealerships, and unlike what most publications are claiming, it isn’t a facelift.
The MY2019 update is turns the Maruti Ignis compliant with the new safety regulations that will become effective in July. Dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, speed sensing auto door locking and driver SBR are already standard. With the yearly update, it has gained front passenger SBR and high-speed warning system. All the grades have these two new safety features now.
Rear parking sensors were not included in the Sigma and Delta grades previously. Now, these grades feature them. The Zeta and Alpha grades have gained roof rails for a more rugged styling. There’s also a new infotainment system onboard, most likely the 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen unit from the 2019 Maruti WagonR and the 2019 Maruti Baleno. The old model is equipped with the 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system, in only the Alpha grade.
Under the hood, the Maruti Ignis still has the K12M 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 61 kW (82.94 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine was discontinued last year because of poor demand. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual are the transmission choices. The fuel economy rating of the entry-level NEXA model is 20.89 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the 2019 Ignis on the 25 of February. The old model’s prices range from INR 4,66,509-7,05,130 (ex-showroom Delhi).
