Compared to its predecessor, the second-gen BMW X4 is 81 mm longer and 37 mm wider. It weighs 50 kg more.

Speaking on the design of the second-gen BMW X4, Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, said -

The second-generation BMW X4 brings together a distinctive, dynamic silhouette with a clear, pared-back use of forms.

Compared to its predecessor, the BMW X4 is 81 mm longer, 37 mm wider and 3 mm lower. This translates into an overall length of 4,572 mm, a width of 1,918 mm, and a height of 1,621 mm. The wheelbase, at 2,864 mm, sees an increment of 54 mm.

The interior of the new X4 mimics that of the 2018 BMW X3 to a great extent. The highlights of the equipment list include a 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster, full-colour head-up display with 70% higher projection area, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control feature, and three-zone automatic climate control.

A Vernasca leather upholstery option, which is exclusive to the X4, is available with the Tacora Red colour option, as well as in Black for the M Sport variants. Additionally, the M Sport trim features M leather steering wheel, sports seats, a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite, and exclusive interior trim strips in Aluminium Rhombicle Dark with Pearl-effect Chrome accent strips.

Powering the BMW X4 xDrive20d is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that outputs a maximum power of 190 hp at 4,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm. The motor comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.

Compared to the earlier generation, the second-gen SAC costs mostly the same. That said, unlike the previous iteration (Codename - F26), which was available with a petrol engine option for the entry-level model, the new version (Codename - G02) is on sale only in the xDrive 20d engine variant.
