Fresh spy shots of the 2019 Mercedes GLC have emerged from China, courtesy autohome.com.cn. Earlier this week, Sina Auto had published spy photos of the facelifted model undergoing road testing in the country.
On the outside, the 2019 Mercedes GLC will feature reshaped headlamps, modified bumpers, a revised grille, new alloy wheels and tweaked tail lights. All in all, the exterior remains mostly as is with a subtle rework.
Inside, the mid-size SUV may get more advanced in technology with the adoption of a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, a bigger, 10.25-inch central display and multifunction touchpad with handwriting recognition. These features are already available in the F-CELL hydrogen fuel-cell variant that arrived in September 2017 and reached the German market last month.
With the mid-cycle program, the OM 654 diesel engine will replace the OM 651 unit of the Mercedes GLC. Needless to say, of the D16 1.6-litre and the D20 2.0-litre versions, the BMW X3 rival will get the latter. Reports say that three variants of this engine are planned: 200d, 220d and 300d.
The Mercedes GLC 350 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid could swap the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission with the 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission. Also, the plug-in hybrid variant could finally become available in right-hand drive markets like the UK, Thailand, Australia among others.

The new Mercedes GLC will likely reach European dealer forecourts by mid-2019. In India, the launch may conclude by the end of the same year. On Mercedes-Benz India's business plan for 2019 are also the Mercedes V-Class and the all-new Mercedes GLE.
