Just a day after the 'surprise' revealing of the Tata Harrier's exterior, IAB’s automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania comes up with renderings of the new flagship in as many as nine different exterior colour shades.
Production of the Tata Harrier takes place on a newly setup manufacturing line at the company's Pune facility. Tata Motors claims to have adopted the best manufacturing practices for its new SUV from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The assembly line, which has been built in a record time of 6 months, boasts 90% automation levels with more than 100 KUKA and ABB robots.
The Tata Harrier is the first production-spec model to be designed as per the IMPACT 2.0 theme. As assured by Pratap Bose, Head of Design at Tata Motors, the Harrier stays 80% true to the H5X concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. Highlights of the front-end include Euro-style two-tier lights and the new Tri-Arrow pattern. The new model is expected to go on sale in a range of attractive colour options.
The Tata Harrier is underpinned by the new OMEGA ARC modular platform, which is basically a derivative of Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform. Powering the SUV is an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbocharged diesel engine that outputs a maximum power of 140 PS along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The oil-burner is being marketed as the 'Kryotec' engine. Power will be sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission. An AWD system is unlikely to be offered in India, at least at the time of launch.

Tata Motors will conduct the in-depth product preview in early December. Pre-bookings of the model have been underway for a token amount of INR 30,000. The market launch should take place in January 2019, with prices ranging from INR 16-21 lakh OTR. The new model will rival the high-end trims of the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks, and mid-level versions of the Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500.
