Royal Enfield confirmed via its Twitter handle that the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 will be launched in India on 14 November, 2018 at 06:30 PM (IST). A new report claims that the 650 cc motorcycles could arrive at an even more competitive price tag than previously claimed.

As confirmed by Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield, the company will start shipping the models to major markets by the end of this year, when the bikes will be at stores for display and test rides, while the sales would commence by early next year.
A previous report suggested that the prices for the 650 Twins could commence from INR 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Now, a new report from Zigwheels claims that the 650 cc motorcycles could arrive at an even more competitive price tag. According to this report, the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 could cost INR 2.5 lakh* and INR 2.7 lakh* respectively.
At those prices, the Interceptor INT 650 would undercut the Kawasaki Ninja 300 by nearly INR 50,000. Moreover, the pricing would put the neo-classic roadster closer to the KTM 390 Duke dominated levels. The Austrian pocket rocket carries an INR 2.26 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price tag. Both, the Interceptor INT 650 and 390 Duke cater to the different audience, but the bunch that is opting for the KTM roadster for touring purposes could be attracted towards the Royal Enfield.

For reference, the KTM 390 Duke’s 373 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4 valve engine makes 43.5 PS of power at 9,500 RPM and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm. In comparison, the Royal Enfield’s 648 cc, parallel-twin cylinder, SOHC, oil-cooled, 8-valve engine churns out a maximum power output of 47 bhp at 7,100 rpm and peak torque of 52 Nm at 5,200 rpm. Both motorcycles use a six-speed gearbox that comes with slip and assist-clutch. The safety net of dual-channel ABS also comes as standard.
The Austrian naked roadster’s feature list includes full LED lighting, upside down telescopic front forks and a digital display with Smartphone integration via Bluetooth to control music and calls.
