The facelifted Hyundai Tucson that was released internationally in March this year is on sale internationally. A new report from Autocar India says that its Indian launch will take place in May 2019.
The facelifted Hyundai Tucson features minor design revisions, new convenience features and powertrain updates. Exterior changes include sharp new full-LED headlights with L-shaped signature, Cascading grille, new lower grille, fresh alloy wheels, new skid plates, redesigned tail lamps and reshaped exhaust tips.
Moving to the interior, the C-SUV has a cleaner design now, thanks to the new 8-inch floating central display and the car-like horizontal central air vents. The MMC has brought Qi wireless charging and second-row USB charger to its list of convenience features.
Hyundai sells the Tucson in India with a 155 PS 2.0-litre MPI petrol engine and a 185 PS 2.0-litre CRDI diesel engine, both paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will likely replace the 6-speed automatic transmission option in the diesel engine model with a new 8-speed unit.
To enhance the fuel economy of the diesel engine model, in addition to the new AT, Hyundai could introduce a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This system, already available internationally, comprises a 0.44 kWh 48-volt Li-Ion battery, a Mild Hybrid Starter Generator (MHSG), a LDC converter (Low Voltage DC/DC) and an inverter. The MHSG supports the engine with up to 12 kW under acceleration, leading to a more sprightly response and lower fuel consumption.
