Speaking at the North American launch of the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650, Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “The Twins are our first truly global line of products and will play a very strategic role in ushering the next set of Royal Enfield owners across the world.”

Bikers in New Zealand, too are excited about the new 650 Twins. The country’s first and only Royal Enfield flagship store has already received 12 pre-orders (as on September 28) for the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650. Customers have put down the deposits for the motorcycles even before they arrive in the showrooms, and the test rides commence. Do note that the prices for the New Zealand market are still not out.

The customers who have pre-ordered the bikes already own BMWs and Harley-Davidsons. Of the 12 bikes pre-booked, eight are Interceptor INT 650 while the other four are Continental GT 650, and the dealer says enquiries are coming in everyday for twins.

YouTuber, Karl Rock, also has a message for Siddhartha Lal in his work-in-progress Hindi. Check out his message and New Zealand's first and only Royal Enfield store in the video below:

To recap, the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor INT 650 use the same twin-cradle, tubular steel frame and Royal Enfield's brand new 648cc, parallel-twin cylinder, air & oil cooled engine that delivers 47 bhp of power at 7,250 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox – a first on a Royal Enfield. The six-speed gearbox benefits from slipper and assist clutch.

A 320mm single disc at the front and a 240mm single disc at the rear perform the anchoring tasks while a Bosch dual-channel ABS that comes as standard enhances the safety department.
