Bookings for the Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 will commence after the launch which is scheduled in the third quarter of FY2018-19.

A new report, posted on September 5, suggests that the upcoming Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 could be priced at INR 3 lakh (ex-showroom). Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield has already confirmed that the bookings for the motorcycle will commence in the third quarter of the current financial year.

As seen in the leaked technical specifications, both the motorcycle will use a 648cc parallel twin cylinder, SOHC, air-cooled, fuel injected motor that will deliver 47 bhp of maximum power @ 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque @ 5,200 rpm. The engine will come mated to a six-speed gearbox and will feature Assist and Slipper clutch. A 320 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear will provide stopping power while the safety net will include a Bosch (9.1) Dual Channel ABS.

The upcoming Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650 will be built around the same chassis and will use the same hardware. The motorcycles will come equipped with conventional telescopic front forks and twin coil-over gas-charged rear shock absorbers. The Interceptor 650 will be a classic roadster, while the Continental GT 650 will be café racer. Thus, both motorcycles will feature different styling and ergonomics.

In terms of dimensions, both the motorcycles will measure 2,122 mm long and sport 174 mm of ground clearance. Wheelbase and seat height for the 650 twins will be identical at 1,400 mm and 804 mm respectively. However, the fuel tank capacity for the Continental GT 650 will stand at 12.5 litres while the Interceptor INT 650 will get a larger 13.7-litre unit.
