Specialists in creating after-market crash bars for motorcycles, Sahyadri Moto is preparing a new kit for the BMW G310 GS. The comprehensive package includes full protection to the bodywork of the motorcycle along with a few extra bits. The upper guard runs underneath the beak of the motorcycle and protects the semi-fairing design. The crash guard is designed to run parallel to the lines on the fairing and the fuel tank. The upper guard also holds a couple of auxiliary lights for extra illumination as you put the 'GS' badge on the motorcycle to test on uncharted territories. The lower guard, on the other hand, is aimed to provide maximum protection to the engine. Both, the upper and the lower guards are two different units thus making replacement more affordable and convenient.

The saddle stays are installed wide enough to protect the luggage from the exhaust. The crash guards have been installed on hard chassis points. The mounting points on lower sides of the engine are not used either. The skid plate, too, is mounted on the crash guard and not engine lower points. Thus, none of the crucial parts is damaged in case of a crash.

The folks at Sahyadri have also tried to improve the ergonomics for the standing position by adding 2-inch aluminium handlebar raisers. The added height would make the handlebar more accessible and offer more control of the motorcycle while going off the tarmac. You don’t need to worry about the wiring. The stock wires and cables are sufficiently long for another extra inch of height in the raiser. A new windscreen further enhances windblast protection.

The kit will add substantial weight to the stock BMW G310 GS. The upper guard weighs as much as 4 kg while the lower guard and skid plate add 4.5 kg to the motorcycle. The saddle stay contributes another 3.5 kg that brings the total weight up by another 12 kg. The plastic belly cowl is replaced by a metal skid plate that is part of the lower guard – offering more protection to the motorcycle off the tarmac. The additional protection does not hamper the baby GS’s ground clearance in any way.
